Phoenix Botanical Garden

We arrived  in Phoenix early morning, which actually restarted our day, and we had some time to waste before we could check into our room.  We decided to go to the botanical garden.  It was very nice but it was HOT.  Don't let anyone tell you that it is better when the air is dry because 106 degrees is really hot.  I did manage to take a few pictures there but they were more of the snap and move on variety because it was so HOT.

There were some Chihuly sculptures.  Very cool and they reminded me of the ones at the MFA in Boston

Taking a Break

I have taken a week off from the studio in order to entertain my granddaughter while her parents were in Mexico.  She has been taking an art class and I can't wait to see what she has been working on.  We have also been to the movies a couple of times and swimming.  All in all, it has been a fun week.

In between all of this, I have been working on the Botanical Garden photo contest.  I was pleased with my last outing and here are a few of my favorites:

Winter

It has been unseasonably warm until today.  Today felt like winter and some snow is in the forecast for tomorrow. I guess it is finally here.  However, I thought I would share a few pictures of spring, all taken in Ecuador.

And We Have a Winner!

A few months ago, I entered the Roger Williams Botanical Garden Photo Contest.  My photo was chosen as the best photo of a rose in the rose garden.

I have to admit that this was a lucky shot.  I only took three photos of this and without a tripod.  I remember sitting in the gravel and I don't know how I got the dark background.  Like I said, this was a lucky shot.

And by the way, this is my 100th post.

Signs of Spring (Finally)

To say that this has been a long winter would have been an understatement.  But today it actually felt like Spring was on the way.  Although only in the mid fifties with strong winds, I decided to take a walk with the camera.

If you look closely you can see some seals sunning themselves

This was taken somewhere along the bike path

A sure sign of spring
